"Cricket is once again facing up to the spectre of corruption with the recent one-day international series between the West Indies and Pakistan set to be investigated over allegations of wrongdoing. Suspicious betting patterns were identified during the low-profile five-match series, which concluded on Thursday, while unusually slow run-rates during certain overs followed by bursts of high scoring have ‘set alarm bells ringing’, according to industry experts. This is foolishness.

As usual the powers that be do not want to get at the root of the problem and that is the betting itself.

Anyway good luck to them.

"The PCB is obviously extremely concerned at the recent allegations of fixing reported in the media with regard to recently concluded ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies," the official said. "The PCB maintains zero tolerance towards corruption in the game but investigations in this matter falls within the purview of the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit. The PCB is in contact with the ICC on this issue and understands that the ICC will be issuing a media release soon. The PCB, at the moment, is examining all legal aspects but for the time being will not be making any further comments".

No comment from the WICB yet? Not even a protestation of innocence, outrage or shock?
