DARREN BRAVO has expressed his delight in being one of 15 West Indies cricketers selected for Central Retainer Contracts by the West Indies Cricket Board, for the period October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011.
According to the WICB, Bravo, countryman Adrian Barath, Jamaican left-arm spinner Nikita Miller and Grenadian pace bowler Nelon Pascal have been elevated to Central Retainer Contracts from Developmental Contracts for the past year.
And Bravo, during a brief interview at his Santa Cruz hometown recently, was understandably delighted in being part of the group who will be on Retainer Contracts.
“Obviously it’s a great feeling, a great privilege, a great opportunity,” said the Trinidad and Tobago left-handed batsman. “I’m just 21 years old and, being given a contract from the West Indies Cricket Board and haven’t yet (cemented) my place on the team, it shows that the Board has some sort of belief in me and it’s nice to see they’re trying to push the youngsters as much as possible.
