As the 2013-14 Australian summer of cricket comes to a close with the BUPA Sheffield Shield Final and the Australian squad in Bangladesh for the ICC World Twenty20, Cricket Australia (CA) today provided the following update on the movements and fitness of CA contracted players heading into the ‘winter season’.
Winter season schedule/calendar for national players
Australia:
July/August – Training camps at National Cricket Centre, Brisbane
Late-Aug to early Sept – away ODI tri-series v Zimbabwe and South Africa (schedule TBC)
October – Tour to UAE against Pakistan

· George BAILEY
Bailey is a captain of the Australian squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. Following that event, his next commitment is to captain Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League which finishes at the end of May.
· Michael CLARKE
Clarke is recovering from a left shoulder injury sustained during the 3rd Test against South Africa. He is not scheduled to play any cricket until Australia’s next tour overseas, a triangular one-day series against Zimbabwe and South Africa in August.
· Ed COWAN
Cowan has no current playing obligations at this stage.
· Patrick CUMMINS
Cummins has returned from a back injury, and after playing in the KFC T20 Big Bash League for the Perth Scorchers, he has been restricted to playing short form cricket until the end of the season which has included grade cricket. His next playing commitment is for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League which finishes at the end of May.
· Xavier DOHERTY
Doherty has no current playing obligations.
· James FAULKNER
Faulkner is recovering from knee surgery and looking to return to playing during the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. Following that event, his next commitment is for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League which finishes at the end of May.
· Brad HADDIN
Haddin is a vice-captain of the Australian squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. Following that event, he has no further scheduled playing commitments until resuming Australian team duties.
· Ryan HARRIS
Harris underwent surgery late last week on his right knee. More than a week on and he is recovering well and commenced his long rehabilitation program. The aim will be to have Ryan fit to play in the Test series against Pakistan later in the year but medical staff will continue to assess his progress over the coming period.
· Ben HILFENHAUS
Hilfenhaus’ next assignment is for Chennai Super Kings at the Indian Premier League which finishes at the end of May.
· Phillip HUGHES
Hughes has no current playing obligations.
· Mitchell JOHNSON
Johnson is recovering from an infection that began in his right big toe, before affecting his right leg. He is being managed by a team of medical specialists. Depending on how quickly he recovers, Johnson’s next scheduled commitment is the 2014 Indian Premier League where he will represent Kings XI Punjab.
· Nathan LYON
Lyon is a member of the New South Wales squad for the Bupa Sheffield Shield final. Following that match, he has no further scheduled playing obligations.
· Glenn MAXWELL
Maxwell is a member of the Australian squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. Following that event, his next commitment is for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League which finishes at the end of May. He then heads to England to represent Hampshire in the UK County Championship until late August.
· Clint McKAY
McKay has no current playing obligations.
· James PATTINSON
Pattinson experienced some lower-back soreness at the completion of the 3rd Test against South Africa. As such, advice from CA Medical staff is for Pattinson to take a cautious approach during the off-season, that will include rehabilitation, strength, conditioning and technique modification. He has no immediate playing obligations for the winter season.
· Peter SIDDLE
Siddle will head to England later this month to take up a contract with Nottinghamshire in the UK County Championship until September.
· Mitchell STARC
Starc is a member of the Australian squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. Following that event, his next commitment is for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League which finishes in late May.
· Matthew WADE
Wade has no current playing obligations.
· David WARNER
Warner is a member of the Australian squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. Following that event, his next commitment is for Hyderabad Sunrisers in the Indian Premier League which finishes at the end of May.
· Shane WATSON
Watson is a member of the Australian squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. Following that event, his next commitment is to captain the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League which finishes at the end of May.

Rogers will leave for England at the end of March to return to English County side Middlesex for the season.
