Despite this, former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop is confident that the 23-year-old can become a big contributor.
"It's only a matter of time; he's a very young man," Bishop told Cricket365.
"He came into West Indies cricket very young and international cricket is obviously the highest level of cricket and I think that given time and exposure at international level he will develop into as good an international player as he been at the IPL or on the regional scene."
Pollard's commitment to the Windies cause has been called into question in the past, with some saying his hesitancy to play Test cricket suggests his heart lies elsewhere. Bishop contends that the all-rounder has stated his desire to play Test cricket and needs to be given a chance to show both this.
"As far as whether he has aspirations to play the longer form of the game he says he has and I have to take him at his word on that," said Bishop.
"Does he have what it takes skill wise to play the longer form? I think so, yes."

Bish is batting for his countryman... Do you think Pollard could make it on the test scene?

Pollard need to display his skills for the longer version of the game in the local dung heap games, not in test cricket! It is up to TnT to pick him for the 4 day games so he can display his talents.
Test cricket is for real cricketers, not the Tarzans of T20!
I hope Bish is not asking for him to be included in the test team!!!

There is talent to work with in Pollard. Andrew Symonds showed that a big hitter can succeed in Test matches.
The real question is whether he WANTS to play Test cricket. I don't think he does. He's done nothing to suggest he has an interest in playing Tests apart from the lip-service cliche "Test cricket is the highest form of the game" he occasionally tells reporters.

Yeah, Pollard didn't play any four-day matches for Trinidad this season, and the rules are clear....

1. For a player to be eligible for selection to the West Indies Test squad the player must make himself available for selection to his territorial squad for the WICB Regional Four Day Competition.

true, but I don't think Pollard was in contention for a Test spot. He might be selected for ODI and T20 team though.
