St Kitts Patriots announced yesterday their stunning acquisition of Twenty20 batting sensation Chris Gayle from the Jamaica Tallawahs for the next season of the Caribbean Premier League.

The transfer means that the talismanic left-handed opener has cut ties with the Tallawahs, the CPL franchise based in his native Jamaica, which he has twice led to the title, including last year.

It is a move that is likely to shift the balance of power in the fledgling T20 league and gives the Patriots the competitive edge they have lacked since they replaced the Antigua Hawksbills in the league two years ago.

There was no hint that such a seismic shift was about to happen, as Gayle was essentially billed as the heart and soul of the Tallawahs over the previous four seasons, and he expressed his gratitude to the franchise for the support it had given over the last four years.

They also need a coach...and they've got one!
:D

" Phil Simmons has been appointed as the new head coach of St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots for the 2017 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Simmons' appointment comes after they acquired opener Chris Gayle from Jamaica Tallawahs last week in a bid to turn around their results."

"Elsewhere in the league, batsman Dwayne Smith has completed a move back to the Barbados Tridents - where he spent the first three editions of the CPL - following a successful season with the Guyana Amazon Warriors last year, where he was instrumental in helping them make it to the final. Smith was part of the the Tridents squad that had won the 2014 edition, in which he had struck two centuries."

    FLorida! Good one Googs but please don't put ideas in AFRO's head mek him run go and tell the board how they can ensure at least one victory in a series versus Pakistan ... by a walk-over courtesy of the Trumpeter.

Anyway, am sure that the CPL boys can fix up something with the US Immigration Authorities to ensure that the Pakistan players pass through customs.

Howz, you rite....Affers will run an tell the board so he could score more brownie points!! That means longer stay at the trough:lol:

Anyway, the CPL boys should be able to handle visa preparations much better than WICB!

I read somewhere that WICB had to cancel plans for a WI vs Pak T20 in Florida because of visa issues.
