Baugh… Undeserving

http://www.trinidadexpress.com/sports/U ... 26479.htmlUndeserving and puzzling was how some local cricket experts described the decision of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to select Carlton Baugh ahead of Denesh Ramdin for a central retainer contract for the 2010-2011 season…
Former West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago opening batsman and current Queen’s Park Cricket Club executive manager Bryan Davis…
“He is not deserving, he has done nothing to deserve a contract. I felt it was a good idea to drop (Ramnaresh) Sarwan and Ramdin to convey a message to all the other contracted cricketers, but when they come and select people like Baugh, I don’t understand the thinking.”
Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) first vice-president Dudnath Ramkessoon…
“He (Baugh) has not done anything to justify his selection ahead of Ramdin. If the selectors wanted to send a message, they are going about it the wrong way.”
Former TTCB president and WI wicketkeeper and vice-captain Deryck Murray…
“Basically, it seems as though once again the WICB selectors don’t have a policy that they are following. It appears in the original 15 no wicketkeeper was selected. The expectation was that nothing had changed to change Ramdin from being the number one keeper in the West Indies.
“Then they replace three all-rounders, well, two and one-part time bowler (Gayle), with a wicketkeeper, an all-rounder and another quick bowler. It doesn’t seem to follow a pattern. And one is left to wonder on what basis Baugh was selected ahead of Ramdin,” said Murray….
I have to agree with the Tittiies on tis one.. They can't just pull names out of hat...the selection has to follow some protocol. What is the criteria for giving central contracts. I want to hear Butts and Hilaire justify Baugh inclusion..
