My divorce from westindies cricket, if not from the westindies as a whole, is complete. I am done with westindies cricket. it is time to move on
a new day has dawned in the westindies, a nasty blustery day more like and english spring day, a waning day with a weak, sick sun that is going down not coming up.
the westindian elites of blac and brown have made a pigs breakfast of westindian life of which the mess, cricket is just an extention.
born at the tail end of their masters reign, like children born to an old father, they have inherited his old age and ways. hamstrung by such a heritage the westindian elite could build only disaster, function as a young nation as if born in their dotage, old before their time with only a brief flash of excellence before sinking into deep social obsequiousness, obsolesence, rickety in a few years as if they were built to self- destruct as soon as possible.
that is the westindies....unable to address its problems because the old men who inherited the power ensures only old things would, can prevail. and while neighbors like Venezuela, with courage and fortitude have emerged with a new brilliant way of taking life forward, we remain mired in the the old social doldrums, the region a social backwater of the capitalist world and glad to be just that...beggars, serving tourists, building brothels for westindian women to serve visitors rather thannew, modern industries for them to find decent work.
the westindian elites represent a catergorical refusal to accept responsibility for itself as a social class in charge of the region, responsible for its well-being and security. the westindian elites have subjected themselves to ole marse so completely, so abjectly they are now without spine and capability of doing anything at all that represents a postive response to the dire challenges that face the westindies.
in cricket they come up with Sammy, a player who cannot make the team and white nash an australian. what an utter abasement of the westindian national game, a spit in the face of our magnificent cricket achievements over half a century, disrespect of the great players still among us. what on earth even qualifies sknash to play for the westindies far less be vice captain?
nothing that I can see. for all I know and see it is probably only shame and fear that may have prevented the wicb from giving sknash the captains job outright, settling for sammy who must be some sort of step or bridge to a sknash appointment soon enough. in filure we go back to the white man!
if the westindies were going to appoint a captain who could not assure his place in the team it would have been a lot better to appoint Ganga of Trinidad who is a far better leader than Sammy is or can be.
but my suggestion, after Lloyd was(is) the best way out. appoint Adrian barath and build a proper support team around him that would ensure his development in a few years into the successful leader westindies need. Barath is young and will grow with his team. he is the only young player who can command a place on the test side and that would be the basis of his appointment.
Barath is westindian to the bone, a youth who with dedication has developed himself so far into a test batman of some class,who promises a great deal along the way. Barath is not a carpet-bagging white australian, whose parents abandoned the westindies for Australia in fear and disgust with rising blac/brown leadership after westindian independence..who now returns in failure to make an austraian success, to take advantage of westindian failure.
the westindies has failed by the machinations of the very blac/broan leadership sknash parents did not like and wanted no part of, and mediocre Lil sknash can come back 'home' and be included in a team for which he could not carry bags and towels when it was a real cricket team.
and gladly this same blac westindian leadership includes sknash, as if he is some saviour, a lousy mediocrity of a cricketer who cannot score unless the condtions favour batting.
at best skansh is a featherbed bully, who as soon as the bowler has a fair chance is useless at he crease. and here he is vice captain of the westindies, now descending fast to last place and ultimate disenfranchisement or discertification in cricket.
sknash is my last straw. i am done! gorne! I may be posting from time to time keeping my hand in for a while. but soon enough I will be done completely. the westindies is a waste of time now, a barren space. nor more james and Naipauls, Walcotts and Kinkaids, Brathwaite and Selvon, Sobers, Kanhai...and Viv..the last of the line of really great, creative batsmen westindies produced. there is nothing after lara unless barath and lil Bravo are not stiffled by the old barren men and their young minions who run the region.
in the arts there is nothing, little, few I know emerging of the quality of the old greats. that is because the westindies in dire social straits, a situation that should be producing men and women of equal quality to meet regional challenges is so baren, we have killed or seriously damaged in ourselves, the qualities that produce such people. we can no longer help ourselves. we are barren, un-pregnant socially and make no positive developments anymore...

as the old guard descends into failure what to do produce is more and more absurdity. Sammy as cappo is absurd indeed.

Mapoui....the honorable Doctor Hunte and Dr Hilliare object to your divorce request.... They said that you signed on til death or if they choose to un-friended you ( like Josh from facebook). bwoy I love the westindies but I hate it too...with a a hate so powerful if I had the capability I would blow the place up...not with bombs but socially.
the old westindies, that content and reality so far produced by the centuries of slavery and indenture, colonialism and neo colonialism, must be destroyed, along with not a few of those who are part of the process now. a cleansing, revolutionary fiyah it must be, to burn through the region, setting it up for a positive future which regularises all the past, turns it into the positive lesson it must be to teach the future generatons how to avoid the past.
I really have no care for the current westindian population at all save the young. they are the pits as far as I see, garbage people unable to even to act in their own best interest. the young by definition can be taught to live better lives, which in their turn they can improve for their own children. but who are to teach them to do this, to so live and grow and build?
there are no people in the westindies, organised and willing to fight for such a regional future, prepared to teach the young properly, the truth...prepared to make the sacrifices that must be made to save the region from itself.

not quite huckle. the debate mus' ebvolve, begin to take the contours of the westindies as it is at this time and its develoment that brought it to this place in time. we must consider what is going up and what is winding down and why. we mus' consider the probable future given how we got here!
to do that e have to gather some facts about the current and past westindies and be fearless in accepting what these facts reveal and what the likely future would be.
such activity reveals that we can intervene from all sortst of angles to rtry shape this future this or that way. or we ca agree on the future we eant and create that. once we know the laws of social evolution we can master them. master nature and so create ourselves, for ourselves, the best type of life that is possible.
that is supposed to be the goal, the worl of society for it is consistent with all and every interest of humanity to proceed on this manner socially.
to judge by the westindians i meet in canada the westindies is still a stupid place, a backward place, producing narrow-minded, silly people who fucntion socially in no way distinctive compared to the generations I knew in my time in the region.
for one thing it is clear that in the westindies people of african descent are going nowhere fast. among such peopole there is no signficant population increase...and there may in fact be relative population decline among them. as a % factor of the Titty population for example people of african descent are declining since I came to know it in the 1960's.
back then from a population advantage and total poitical control, pad have declined to a position from if it the slide continues any longer would descent to social obsequiousness in another generation.
the feature of pad's life in Titty as compared to Jamaica is that in both p;aces and also up the dots also, we exist in antagonistc and degraded rel;ationships between the pad elites/government and the generality of pads - People of African Descent.
everywhere pads are beaten down by their own government, kept out, exist in dire povery, drugs/drug-running, gun violence, petty crime, poor to non existent health services...or unaffordable as health services remian for sale at high prices in the westindies, quite out of reach of ordinary pads.
looking in from the outsdie it would seem that the pad elites are killing off pads in their effort to keep themselves in regional power...a power that represents the exploitation of the region at levels even greater than when the region remained colonial for the benefit of the same, traditional oppressor.
this of course is tantamount to the ultimate destruction of the whole westindian pad group. that pads cannot play cricket anymore is bound to be a developmental factor of the degraded condtions in which most are kept in the region. if we note the terrbile state of affiras in Titty and jmaica and note that much of worth will not continue to flow from such declinign situtations we must also add Guyana as such a situation for pad for pads have lost all power in that situatuin....which leaves the dots whose collective population is not even half a million people apart from Barbados.
the pads now exercise power in the wicb way beyond their capacity to maintain for any length of time. and such power as they now have rests on a political system that everyone respects and follows so far, so the dots can get a turn at the wheel and use to exercise power way beyond their physical means to have achieved and effect otherwise.
omn that basis and given the quality of their activity in their turn at the wheel I would wager that this is in fact their only time a the wheel and that it will never swing their eway again. but such a conclusion on my part assumes many things ..like the political situation in the region will remain the same for a long time and there would always be 'dots' constituted ase they are currently...which is hardly likely.
so things have evolved..evolving! and in the overall picture little favours a pad resurgence. the westindian pad elites are a declining factor in westindian regional power. Indian soical power is rising from the south..Titty and Guyana. white immigrant power is flowing from the north... Jamaica, Antigua and the dots...while the pads keep destroying their collective chances. such a foundation was laid when as a group...Eric Williams, Grantley Adams. The Manleys and Bustamante, the Birds, Bradshaw, Compton, Burnham...all of them cjhose to emplace a neo-colonial system in the westindies, chose to be subservient to our old masters, which meant compettitive politics and which competitve politics meant rascial politics in Titty and Guiyana and business as usal in the rest of the region...the blac man on the bottom like atlasm upon whose shoulders a whole massive system of social exploitation was built and maintained.

I see crissy talking all the time but she plays a particularly safe game. she stays shallow, never venturing into theses aeras of the westindian dabte..at least publicly.
but then again crissy is not blac! neither are people like decca and kami. these are in fact anti blac, in no way considerate of the parts of their heritage that is directly african...althoung in the end the whole human species is in fact african.
the only one of the women over on sissy that appears totally blac and even sympathetic is yam foot. but them she is a careerist and concerned with the enhancers of her career, not sociology - economics and politics etc
